FederalModernization of two Social Security Administration (SSA) offices in Upstate NY helped the establish and better assist its clients. The project scopes for the renovations included complete design services including demolition, hazardous materials abatement, implementation of a design intent package, life safety and code review, installation of barrier walls with private interviewing windows, and enhanced physical security of employees and privacy of the visiting public.
Extensive coordination was required, as the team managed subconsultants and private client vendors and contractors. The high-level security incorporated throughout office spaces necessitated additional attention as well. Design ensured the space was fully equipped with hardwired intrusion detection systems, and closed-circuit television systems, security was of the utmost importance.
Construction was implemented in phases in order to ensure the Social Security Administration’s ability to maintain daily operation and service to the visiting public.
