EducationReady to expand the capabilities of the existing athletic facility, SUNY Delhi chose to construct a facility including a new gymnasium, training facilities, locker rooms, showers, and staff offices. The structural scheme is a pre-engineered metal building at the gymnasium, and a structural steel frame on masonry walls for the office and locker room wing. NKB readily provided schematic design, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration services.
Where imported fill material was not enough to support the new structure, deep foundations (drilled peers) were provided. Solid solutions were provided for SUNY Delhi’s dilemmas and they successfully contributed to the construction of the complex.
The New Athletic Complex at SUNY Delhi presented and interesting design challenge in the two different types of structural systems were utilized for the implementation of the design solution.
