Unique ProjectsA 13-story Federal Building with air and water infiltration issues, the Addabbo Building was in need of a study to address these issues. Providing a whole building pressurization study on such a scale is no simple mission. The test involved coordinating multiple subconsultants to handle tasks ranging from the operation of the pressurization fans, to project specific electrical considerations, to additional building security, to securing the elevator shafts.
The building was successfully pressurized to +/- 75 Pascals relative to the outdoor atmospheric pressure on the day of the test. Both “Architectural Only” and “Architectural +HVAC” tests were performed. Localized smoke puffers and infrared cameras were utilized to identify the locations and severity of the air leakage into and out of the building.
33 specialized fans were sourced from across the country in order to conduct a test of this magnitude.
