Architecture Intern Morgan Sawyer is (Virtually) Back at NKB from UMASS Amherst!
He’s Back! UMASS Architecture Graduate Student, Morgan Sawyer, has returned to NKB for a Summer Internship and we couldn’t be more excited! Morgan interned at NKB over the 2019-2020 winter break and we are thrilled to have him back! Morgan is a grad student entering his 3rd year at UMASS Amherst studying for his Masters of Architecture. As with many other Universities, Morgan left school early due to COVID-19 and finished up the semester remotely!
He is also currently doing his summer internship remotely for NKB which has its challenges. He is working with both the technical and marketing teams to produce technical renderings and imagery to support business development efforts. Morgan says right now, the biggest hurdle of being an all-of-a-sudden “virtual intern” is trying to fit into the rhythm of things. He says, “The rest of the firm has been working remotely together for 9 weeks now and to slot into an established system is always tough. However, on the whole, having to transition from remote school to remote work has been much easier than I expected.”
When asked what fun plans he has for the summer, Morgan indicated that a lot has been cancelled or “on hold” due to the pandemic, but he is planning a 5-day overnight hike with his brother next month. That sounds like perfect social distancing!
What he’s doing when he’s not working: On a sunny Saturday (in quarantine), I am usually either biking, hiking, or doodling in a sketchbook!
