U.S. CUSTOMS & BORDER PROTECTION CHAMPLAIN LAND PORT OF ENTRY BUS & PASSENGER ADMINISTRATION AREA, Champlain, NY

Project Overview

NKB was retained by GSA as part of our IDIQ contract for the Champlain Passenger Processing Area modifications at the Champlain Land Port of Entry (LPOE). Services included predesign survey, facility condition assessments, and code considerations. The NKB Team renovated the bus and passenger administration area at the Champlain LPOE building, part of a multiple building complex. Improvements included increased waiting areas, separation of bus passengers from vehicle passengers, and the addition of a rectilinear counter for increased circulation. The design task also included modifications to increase the throughput, functionality, and anti-terrorism/force-protection requirements to comply with updated Customs & Border Protection (CPB) requirements. Additionally, NKB created a phasing plan to ensure that the building remained fully operational 24-hours a day, seven days a week throughout the duration of construction. Temporary facilities were provided to remain open during construction.
